Press Enquiries

All print and media enquiries relating to Salisbury Cathedral are dealt with by the Head of Communications, who manages access to the Cathedral and Close, facilitates interviews and provides information. Tourists, visitors and students are welcome to photograph the Cathedral and Close as part of their visit, but all other filming and photography does require permission.

PR and Press Images

We have an extensive image library to draw upon. Requests should be emailed to our Head of Communications with details of how and where the images are to be used. Academic organisations or publications and publishers should liaise with the Head of Library and Archive.

Please email requests to:  Tim Croall, Head of Communications t.croall@salcath.co.uk   07879 672406

Location Filming (drama, reality and documentary) and Photography

Salisbury Cathedral and its Close are privately owned spaces that offer a unique and varied backdrop for filming and photography, with buildings and spaces ranging from 1220 to the present day. Anyone wishing to use the Close for the purpose of filming or for photography (other than private visitor photography) must request permission.

Please contact press@salcath.co.uk with your request and we will be happy to assist.

Drone Photography and Filming

Salisbury Cathedral Close is a residential area, used continuously by the public and schools, and there are peregrines (a protected species) nesting on the Cathedral Tower. For those reasons,  you are not permitted to use a drone or unmanned aircraft for recreational or photographic purposes within the Close without specific permission.
