Dates

logo of Salisbury Musical Society

Salisbury Musical Society (SMS) perform Mendelssohn’s great choral work ‘Elijah‘. The work is an oratorio with a structure based on the works of Baroque composers such as Bach and Handel, whom Mendelsohn greatly admired. However, the lyricism and orchestral colour is very much the work of Mendelssohn’s romantic genius.

The orchestra of Chelsea Opera Group, with whom SMS have a long and fruitful collaboration, will accompany this work which will be conducted by the Cathedral’s Director of Music, David Halls.
