A History of Sacred Music by Women - Sarum College

Dates
10am - 1pm

A course for anyone interested in how women composed sacred music in different periods of history and in their lives and work. Held at Sarum College.

Historically music performed in worship in Churches and Cathedrals has largely been written by men. But women have always composed sacred music, and this three hour online short course will examine historic female composers revered in their day, from Hildegard of Bingen, to Raffaella Aleotti and Marianna Martines, through to Stanford’s pupil Rebecca Clarke and Imogen Holst in more recent centuries.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is organised by Sarum College and led by Canon Anna Macham, and will be delivered online via Zoom on Thursday 17 October from 10am-1pm. Tickets cost £40 per online attendee.
