Choral Evensong for Candlemas: In Memory of Robert Willis
All are welcome to a Choral Evensong in memory of Robert Willis, who served as Dean of Canterbury from 2001 to 2022. Robert Willis worked in the Diocese of Salisbury for seventeen years, 1975-1992, before his appointment as Dean of Hereford and then of Canterbury. He was successively Vicar Choral at Salisbury Cathedral (and Chaplain to the Cathedral School), Team Rector of Tisbury, and Vicar of Sherborne. He served as Rural Dean of Chalke and of Sherborne, and was a member of the College of Canons of Salisbury.
This service will be officiated by The Bishop of Salisbury and will feature a sermon from Bishop Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury.
